John Scott
Over nearly four decades, John Scott has established himself as one of the finest composers working in films today, having collaborated with foremost producers and directors worldwide.  He has been an essential voice in international scoring, creating a body of melodically compelling works that represent some of the best music written for films.

He studied violin and clarinet as a child, later adding saxophone and harp to his instrumental skills. Hired by EMI as an arranger and conductor during the 1960s, Scott worked with producer George Martin, recording with such artists as Tom Jones, Cilla Black, and The Hollies. As a session musician, he worked with Yehudi Menuhin, Ravi Shankar, and Cleo Lane among others.

His first film score, A Study in Terror (1965) led to music for almost 100 films, among them Anthony and Cleopatra, North Dallas Forty, The Final Countdown, Greystoke, King Kong Lives, Shoot to Kill, Lionheart, and a series of scores for documentaries of Jacques Cousteau. more.....

Hilary Mackendrick (d)
May 29, 1925 - March 24, 2011
Hilary Mackendrick served in the classical music department of BBC Radio before moving to California, where she worked for Norman Lloyd’s Hollywood Television Theatre at KCET and then USC as Director of Development for the School of Performing Arts.  She set up the Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields Foundation in Los Angeles.  In the field of healthcare, Hilary was Vice President of Development and Public Relations for Pacific Clinics, an outpatient mental health agency serving the San Gabriel Valley.

Following her retirement she remained active in the voluntary sector, serving on the board of BAFTA-LA and as board Secretary for two years.  She served as Vice President of HSOS.  The film music community is grateful for her passion for our art.  We would not have been able to do our debut season without her.
